India has once again proven that the world is shaping a green transition. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the inauguration of India’s first green hydrogen-powered train marks a key milestone in our journey towards sustainable, self-sufficient, and future-ready transportation, said Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan.
The inauguration of one of the world’s most powerful and longest broad-gauge hydrogen-powered train sets showcases India’s engineering prowess, indigenous innovation, and determination to build a clean future. Running on green hydrogen and emitting only water vapor during use, it stands as a shining example of how technology can accelerate economic growth while protecting our environment.
Indian Railways has undergone an unprecedented transformation over the past decade – from record electrification and Vande Bharat trains to modern stations, dedicated freight corridors, indigenous security systems like Kavach, and now hydrogen-powered transport. Today, India is setting up new global standards in sustainable rail transport.
As the Minister of Environment, Forest and Science and Technology, I do not see this as just a transport milestone. It is a powerful testament to how environmental protection and technological innovation can go hand in hand, paving the way for a clean, sustainable future.
For us in Andhra Pradesh, this achievement stands as an inspiration and a call to action. We are committed to developing clean energy, protecting our natural ecosystems, and embracing technologies that will support sustainable development for future generations.

My heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, the Ministry of Railways, our scientists, engineers, Indian Railways, RDSO, Medha Servo Drives, and everyone else for their dedication that made this historic achievement possible. Green Railways. Clean Environment. Strong India.
