Kadiyam Nurseries in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh has a good reputation all over the world. This nursery sector, which has grown into a brand image, has grown like a great tree in the beginning.
It is commendable that this organization, which started with just 20 people, has grown like a great tree with 2,000 members today.
The newly established pesticides, fertilizer shops, shade nets sales centers and water plants at the Sir Arthur Cotton Nursery Farmers Association Hall in Kadiyapulanka village of Rajamahendravaram Rural constituency were inaugurated by Minister Kandula Durgesh along with Rajamahendravaram Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdhury.
He appreciated the association’s efforts in making pesticides, fertilizers, shade nets and covers (poly bags) required by nursery farmers available at one place and at low prices directly from the companies without the involvement of middlemen.
He assured that a special meeting will be organized with bankers soon to make the nursery sector profitable for all farmers and to provide them with more financial assistance from banks.
On this occasion, Durgash said that it is special to manufacture water bottles under the brand name of ‘Kadiyam Nursery Association’ (KNA) through the water plant set up under the auspices of the association, and this branding will further enhance the greatness of Kadiyam and the identity of the association for tourists, visitors and traders coming to the area.
Keeping in mind the availability of water, he suggested that the nursery sector should be made profitable by effectively utilizing groundwater.
TDP MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdhury said that farmers will get full support through government schemes and facilities like Vamtha Act, water allocations, drip irrigation and shade nets should be widely used. He said that not only production but also market linkage is very important for increasing farmers’income.
He said that there is a possibility of converting waste products into high value products like medicines and fragrances, and for this, farmers need to be provided with proper training. Butchaiah Choudhary expressed that if farmers take steps towards value-based agriculture, their income will increase further.
