Andhra Pradesh is one of the most diverse tourist destinations in the country, said State Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh.

To take Andhra Pradesh tourism to the international level and make the state a leading tourist destination, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department held a special roundtable meeting in New Delhi on Monday under the leadership of Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh with the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), travel trade partners and prominent figures from the hotel sector.

He said that the state has immense tourism potential and spiritual, cultural, historical, coastal, nature, wellness and cruise tourism are flourishing.  Explaining the state’s tourism development under the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan with central support..
Minister Durgesh invited domestic and foreign tour operators to participate in innovative tour plans, destination-based, experiential and tourism development to increase the number of tourists coming to the state.

There was a lengthy discussion about the Godavari Pushkaralu to be held from June 26 to July 7, 2027. Minister Durgesh said that this festival, which comes once every 12 years, will not only be a spiritual event but will also reflect the culture, traditions, handicrafts and food culture of the Godavari coastal region.

He said that these Pushkaras, which are held at hundreds of ghats in six districts of the state, will bring new opportunities for the tourism and hotel sector. Minister Durgesh asked tour operators to create special packages like spiritual circuits, Pancharama Kshetra Darshan, river cruise experiences, village and nature tourism, GI product tours, rural and nature-based tourism to celebrate the Godavari Pushkaras.

He asked the IATO members to come together to introduce Andhra Pradesh to domestic and international tourists. Minister Durgesh expressed confidence that with the support of tour operators and other partners, Andhra Pradesh will be made the most popular tourist destination in the country and that Godavari Pushkaras 2027 can be made a historical tourism and cultural festival at the national and international level.

As part of the program to reach out to the travel sector, Minister Durgesh invited tour operators to attend the IATO Annual Conference, which is being jointly organized by the AP Tourism Department and IATO in Visakhapatnam from September 10 to 13, 2026.

IATO representatives Ravi Gosen, Raj Nish Kaista, Rajiv Mehra, Sanjay Razdan, Sunil Mishra, Deepak Bhatragar and others participated in this meeting.
