Gajuwaka MLA and TDP State President Palla Srinivasa Rao appealed to the government in the Assembly to take strong steps in the future to prevent the land from being encroached upon in addition to the work of converting the open canal in the Gajuwaka constituency into a pipeline.

The 7.2-km-long open canal in the Gajuwaka constituency was located in an urban area, which was a danger to children and livestock in the past. It was proposed earlier, but under the leadership of the current Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, the permission for the pipeline work has been obtained and the work has begun.

He reminded that if the pipeline construction work is completed, the valuable urban land is at risk of being encroached upon again if the boundaries are not clearly defined and leveled with soil after the completion of the construction work.

He requested that boundaries be set and a small protective wall be constructed on this crucial route where the Yeleru and Polavaram canals connect. This would permanently prevent encroachments and serve as a pleasant walking track for the local people, he explained.
