The Center has agreed to bear the cost of land acquisition for key bypass projects in Amaravati. The AP government has expressed its positive response to the request.
The AP government has asked the Center to bear the cost of land acquisition for Outar and Eastern Bypass Road in Amaravati. Thousands of acres of land have to be acquired for the construction of the 189 km long Amaravati Outer Ring Road and the 59 km Eastern Bypass Road. It is estimated that it will cost about Rs 6,000 crore.
With the current financial problems of AP, it is becoming a burden to spend this amount. With this, the AP government has proposed that the Center should bear this cost.
The Center has already accepted several requests made by the AP government for Amaravati. Agreements were made on a loan of Rs 15,000 crore from the World Bank and ADB. Plans are being prepared for construction from January. At this time, the state government got another assurance from the center to reduce the financial burden.
With the approval of the Centre, the AP government had earlier asked to include the construction of Amaravati Outer Ring Road under the Bharat Challenging Programme. However, the center has imposed a condition to bear half of the land acquisition cost even then. In the latest estimates prepared for the construction of the capital, it is estimated that Rs 26 thousand crores will be spent on Amaravati outer road.
Now with the construction of the road, as the center has come forward for land acquisition, this construction is likely to be accelerated. Officials revealed that the government will soon issue a notification on land acquisition with state GST exemption. This will become a key moment in the construction of the capital and speed up soon.
