Despite El Nino crisis, Andhra Pradesh registers 10.7 percent growth in the second quarter of 2025-26 – Set up a committee to ensure that additional prices do not burden the common man – CM Chandrababu suggests

According to the monthly financial report, Andhra Pradesh is recording a steady economic growth. It can be observed that the state’s growth rate has been higher than the national growth rate for the last two years. The state’s real Gross Domestic Product (GSDP) growth rate increased from 6.5 percent in 2023-24 to 9.9 percent in the financial year 2025-26. The monthly financial report revealed that significant growth was recorded in the agriculture, industrial and service sectors.
Planning Department officials submitted the July 2026 financial report to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the camp office here today.
In the second quarter of 2025-26, the agriculture sector registered a growth of 13.5 percent, while the industrial and service sectors registered a growth of 10.6 percent and 9.9 percent respectively, providing strong support to the state economy. In the animal husbandry sector, meat production grew by 9.6 per cent and egg production by 5.1 per cent. In the services sector, strong activity was seen in sectors such as IT, transport and trade. General exports grew by 10.5 per cent to Rs 16,322 crore.
STPI exports grew by 32.2 per cent and commercial vehicle registrations grew by 51.6 per cent. GST collections grew by 21 per cent to Rs 13,282 crore due to technological integration undertaken by the state government.
Investment inflows into the state are also encouraging. Mega project initiations worth Rs 2.88 lakh crore registered a growth of 75.4 per cent, while MSME investments worth about Rs 60,000 crore registered a growth of 73.6 per cent. Tax and non-tax revenues also registered significant growth. As a result, the coalition government is implementing welfare programmes effectively and maintaining fiscal discipline.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed the planning department officials to prepare plans so that the state achieves its GSDP targets even during the El Niño crisis.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for a comprehensive approach that takes into account factors from the state level to the field level. He stressed the need for effective integration of technology in all government departments, like the Commercial Taxes Department, to improve performance and achieve targets.
He said that the state has been experiencing a deficit in rainfall due to the effect of El Niño. He said that due to insufficient water flow into the Krishna river, projects like Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar have not yet reached their full reservoir level.
He said that the state has diverted flood water from Godavari to provide water to the Krishna delta. The Chief Minister directed the officials to take necessary steps in coordination with various departments to ensure that economic output does not fall as the groundwater levels are also declining. He called for a comprehensive analysis of the available information and corrective measures to be taken wherever deficiencies are identified.
He said that every plan formulated by the government should contribute to increasing the growth rate of the state. He directed the officials to ensure that no additional cost burden is borne by the common man and to constitute a committee to look into this issue.
He directed the officials to take all necessary steps to achieve the 15 percent growth target set by the state. He also stressed the need to ensure that exports to international markets are not adversely affected.
