Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the damage caused by Cyclone Arnab in Konaseema district, including the Amalapuram area, and announced immediate relief and rehabilitation measures. The cyclone uprooted trees and electricity poles, blocked roads, disrupted power supply, and damaged crops and horticultural crops.

The Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of waterlogged fields and damaged crops across Krishna, West Godavari and Konaseema districts, including Amalapuram and Katrenikona.

“CM Chandrababu Naidu speaking to cyclone victims”

He will visit Cheyeru in Katrenikona mandal, meet affected farmers in Vetlapalem and inspect the rehabilitation camp set up at Gachakayalapora for displaced families.

He briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the damage to crops, houses, roads, electricity poles and other public properties and sought central assessment teams and financial assistance. Assistance to the victims will start from Thursday. A decision on crop loss compensation will be taken after a comprehensive damage assessment.

He directed the officials to clear the roads blocked by fallen trees within two hours and remove the obstacles on the national highways immediately. Power Restoration: As soon as the strong winds subside, power supply should be restored, giving priority to the affected areas.

He directed to provide adequate food, drinking water and medical facilities in the cyclone shelters and rehabilitation camps.

Agriculture Conservation: He advised the officials to prevent water from entering the fields, protect horticultural crops and ensure that ponds and canals do not get clogged.

Complaints received through our network should be forwarded to the concerned departments and resolved expeditiously. The complainants should be informed about the action taken.  A preliminary damage assessment will be sent to the Centre, after which a comprehensive report will be sent to seek central support.

Reports said that trees and electricity poles were uprooted, roads were blocked and power supply was disrupted due to winds gusting up to 130 kmph; however, no casualties were reported.

The government is currently working to quickly restore roads and power, provide assistance to the displaced, and assess crop losses for compensation. The Chief Minister’s visit focused on identifying the losses faced by farmers in the cyclone-affected areas and understanding the ground situation.

The Chief Minister said that the government machinery worked wonderfully when natural disasters struck.
