A horrific incident took place in Andhra Pradesh this morning, when a miscreant entered the classroom of the school where the girl was studying with a wood cutting saw and indiscriminately injured the girl. The girl was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The state Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took the incident very seriously and issued orders to the police.
This is a very serious incident that took place today in the Zilla Parishad High School in Raptadu mandal, Ananthapuram district. A person entered the 10th class room and attacked a student with a power chainsaw (wood cutting machine), seriously injuring her.
The attack took place on Saturday morning in the area, while classes were in session. The girl, Gopika Lakshmi, suffered serious injuries on her face, head, neck and back. The accused allegedly left the chainsaw there and fled after the attack.police said.
The injured girl was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors said that the girl’s condition was very critical. The police registered a case and arrested the assailant near Dharmavaram in Sathya Sai district.
According to initial reports, the accused is a distant relative of the victim and he has been harassing her recently. The girl’s parents gathered in large numbers at the school, while students and teachers were reportedly shocked and scared.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was shocked by the attack on the girl and expressed deep grief, contacted the district and medical authorities and directed the doctors to provide treatment to the victim on top priority.
He ordered the police to arrest the accused and take strict legal action. The situation at the school is tense as the authorities focus on the victim’s treatment, investigation and school security issues.
