AMARAVATI OCT 1 –  Finally, the coalition
Andhra Pradesh will be the platform for establishing a new system to make agriculture and allied sectors profitable. The Union Finance Minister, CM and Deputy CM will lay the foundation stone for the establishment of the Indian School of Agriculture in Madanapalle.

The coalition government will launch a global horticulture hub to transform the Rayalaseema region into a fruit bowl. The coalition government has designed a planned global horticulture hub project to support farmers from seed to export horticultural products to foreign countries. CM Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan will launch the horticulture hub in Madanapalle, Annamalai district, along with Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The work will be undertaken in three phases to launch the Global Horticulture Hub at a cost of Rs. 1 lakh crore. While the NDA government will provide Rs. 40,352 crore, plans have been made to attract investments of Rs. 60,000 crore from the private sector.

Various works will be undertaken under this project in Anantapur, Annamaya, Chittoor, Kurnool, Nandyal, Sathya Sai, Tirupati, Kadapa, Prakasam and Markapuram districts. Plans have been prepared to carry out development work through 201 clusters in a total of 303 mandals and 5,869 villages in the 10 districts.

The current horticultural cultivation area of 8.41 lakh hectares will be expanded by another 6 lakh hectares to 14.41 lakh hectares. The project will be implemented with a target of increasing production capacity from the current 222 lakh metric tonnes to 435 lakh metric tonnes, which will directly benefit about 9.6 lakh farmers.

In addition to bringing 9 lakh acres of new land under cultivation, 4.3 lakh acres will be stabilized. Out of the Rs. 40,352 crore to be spent by the government, Rs. 20,884 crore will be spent on irrigation projects, Rs. 15 thousand crore on horticulture development and Rs. 4,562 crore on roads and the project will be implemented as planned.

The Global Horticulture Hub plan has been formulated to make Andhra Pradesh the fruit bowl state. Steps will be taken to encourage crops like mango, banana, tomato, pomegranate, dragon fruit, avocado and berries, and to attract private sector investment in food processing plants and exports.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who has been working hard for nearly six months to implement the Global Horticulture Hub, has made this project a reality.
